Be the Neighbor Every Veteran Deserves.
In South Dakota, neighbors look out for one another. That’s why CAV is building a network of volunteers across every county to make sure veterans and their families never stand alone.

Why We Need You
-
60,000+ veterans live in South Dakota, many in small towns far from major services.
-
Veterans and families often face isolation, food insecurity, and limited access to care.
-
Our programs from Operation Chow Line to Compass Corps to VetConnect SD thrive because of local people who step in to help.
Every volunteer hour matters. Every handshake, every meal served, every connection made strengthens the backbone of care for veterans across our state.

Ways to Serve
-
Event Volunteers: Help at Operation Chow Line community meals, set up, serve, or welcome veterans and families.
-
Peer Mentors: Walk alongside veterans navigating college, work, or transitions. Lend your experience, encouragement, and support.
-
Hospital & Resource Connectors: Partner with local hospitals and service providers to ensure veterans in care settings are connected to community support.
-
Behind-the-Scenes Support: Assist with communications, event planning, or outreach campaigns to strengthen our statewide mission.
South Dakota’s veterans stood up for us. Now we stand for them.
Your time, your heart, and your presence matter more than you know. Whether you can give a few hours at an event or provide peer support your involvement helps us build communities of care that last.
